I am so happy of this purchase. a dress that without ruining your wallet, it makes a statement. Pimp it up with a cute necklace. a ring, a nice bracelet and you have an outfit perfect for every occasion, from a chic night out with a pair of stilettos to a cozy day with friends with a pair of biker boots. Plus, I maintained the promise to buy something a little bit more colorful for this winter,  at least now my closet is not anymore only black, grey, white tone!

Pick a Color..November

Back with the monthly agenda! Is it winter yet? I am starting to think Christmas, decorations and gift lists.. Here the streets are already illuminated by Xmas lights, but It is not weather yet for a white holiday!

What is my color of the month? Looking outside at the window today, November is for sure grey!

“Gray is the color of intellect, knowledge, and wisdom. It is perceived as long-lasting, classic, and often as sleek or refined. It is a color that is dignified, conservative and is considered a color of compromise, perhaps because it sits between the extremes of black and white. Gray is a perfect neutral, which is why designers often use it as a background color.”

Here a selection of sweater I choose for you!

Seasonal Mushrooms

Smoke coming up of the chimneys, foggy window, candles and soft music.. all great sight that it arrived the season we all enjoyed to stay home, lie in the couch with a warm blanket … perfect for a nice homemade soup to warm us up!

I love mushroom and as this is the season, I went to the local market and purchased a variety of fresh ones, regular champions, shitake, chantarelle and coming home I was already thinking how to cook them, I could already smell their flavor!

Few weeks ago I went in a nice French restaurant and as welcome starter the owner gave us some mushroom soup, it is amazing, so to continue my experiment in the kitchen I decided to cook it myself.

What you need:

600 gr of mushroom (different types)

a bunch of dried porcini mushroom

vegetable stock

salt and pepper

bunch of parsley

mascarpone (optional to be used at the end)

How to proceed:

First of all place the dried porcini in a small bowl and pour boiling water and leave for a couple of minutes. In the meanwhile take a pan, add olive oil and chopped onion, once the onion start to get gold , add the mushroom previously sliced. Mix and add the dried mushroom and the soaked water, leave it to cook for about 20 minutes. Keep cooking and add slowly the vegetable stock and if needed some extra water. Bring to a boil, add the parsley and if you like some mascarpone to give some texture to the soup.

This recipe is quite simply, but being the first time I tried it, I did not want to “go crazy” with some complicated long recipe.

As a true Italian, I love to serve this with some warm crostini.

I am so sorry, but we were so hungry that we ate it without even taking a picture.

Going back to accessories

Good Morning!

Nature is my biggest inspiration, the energy that Vitamine D gives me is something inexplicable. I am definitely not a designer and I do not have the creativity to be one, but I highly appreciate when something is handmade. On the other hand I can be a great fan, when I like a collection, i keep following the designer to discover the most up-to-daate articles!

Trincar Uvas is the perfect example.  Coming from Portugal, deeply inspired by tribal and folk arts & crafts trincar uvas jewelry uses simple and ancient materials and techniques. Most of the pieces are one of a kind or made in a run of very small editions.

The other day walking into my friend’s store I discovered she starting a new project called Wandering Nubula, a collection of t-shirt and jewelry and I surely purchased mine. A versatile collection, a true necklace for everyone, a touch of light blue and aqua gemstone to bring some color hanging in a brass chain. This is the perfect gift even for that friend that does not use jewelry. I am already a proud owner of 2 necklaces of the previous collection ( I will write a post about them very soon), but for now check out her page on Etsy and get amazed!

Wrap up Scarf

My dears hellooo! Weekend again, yuppie ))

Here in Amsterdam, we definitely skipped the fall season and we entered in full power into winter… the weather became really chilly this week and it is time to officially take out of the closet all the winter gear. Are you ready?

Probably you don’t know, but I am crazy about scarves.. even in the summer time I always have a light one hidden in my purse, so not to go against my “trend” yesterday I went for a walk and I was feeling really cold, I therefore entered in the closest shop I found and I bought a cute, warm, wool scarf by Selected Femme.

According to this year trend in check prints in my favorite colors of the moment, shades of green and pink!

So, it is all for now, let’s wrap up and go out to enjoy the Saturday!IMG_0982 IMG_0984 IMG_0912

Midi Skirt mood

Happy Halloween everyone!

How will you celebrate (if you didn’t do it already last night)? For me no Halloween this year, no crazy parties or costume wear, but I promise myself today I will engage in some pumpkin decoration.

I disappeared for some time, but I had family over visiting and you know how these things are.. spending quality time and my little boy had the time to enjoying and playing with the grandparents.

Anyway, today I wanna talk about my new obsession, midi skirts. A true flashback in the 70’s seeking uber-femminine, elegant looks without sacrificing style and trends. Styled correctly, this trend is at the forefront of sophistication. A midi is a great piece to have if you’d like to change up your look a little, and look classy while doing so! Make sure to balance out the length of the skirt by choosing a fitted top  or a belt to emphasize the high waist. Depending on your mood, complete the look with a pair of boots, oxfords or high heels and you will look fab!

Here I selected for you a couple of black ones, for you shy girls who want to try it, but is still afraid to buy the floral, abstract-print models.

Treating Myself

Happy Sunday!!

This week I received a beautiful gift from Rituals.. and the weekend is the perfect time to try it out!

Pumping up a little bit helps our body and our mind to relax, to show ourselves the love we have for our body. I think it is all part of the process of learning to accept who and how we are.

So here I show you some products of different lines I tried:

Wai Wang Body Scrub – I love body scrubs and this have to be in my favorite list. Great smell of Lotus flower & Yi Yi Ren.

Magic Touch body cream – What to say of this cream? I do not want to repeat myself, but the smell of this is absolutely lovely. Rice milk and cherry blossom leave a sweet, elegant fragrance on the body.. I would define this as a romantic cream, great for date night!

Samurai Ice Shower gel  – I personally did not know this line before. They have several men products, but this shower gel is perfect for girls too. I definitely recommended it for a unique cooling experience, and it is great if you are cold or with soak throat, it really gave me the sensation of opening up all the pores thanks to the Japanese Mint smell.

Creamy Foam Cleanser of lotus flower & Moringa extract – Again, another product I did not know before, but totally worth it to try it. It helps the skin to fight everyday pollution and after use, the skin is really well moisturized.

Enjoy and relax because the weekend is almost over!!

Pick a color…October

Good day my dears!

We are already in the middle of the month, time goes by sooo quickly these days! It is time for the monthly agenda.. and we go Green!

Almost everywhere here in Europe is slowly starting fall and we are saying goodbye – see you next year to the green trees, to the singing birds and to the days sitting in the terrace, enjoying the last rays of a shy sun. Beautiful season, not only because it is my birthday, but it is impossible not to fall in love with the colors of the parks, with the eagerness to enjoy at the most the last weeks before the cold kicks in, sit somewhere and admire the leaves falling down, the wind refreshing our souls.

This is why I chose Green, in different tones.. the bright green of the leaves that are now falling and the dark tone of the evergreen, this is after all a rich color, of the emerald, symbol of hope and harmony.

“It is the sanctuary away from the stresses of modern living, restoring us back to a sense of well being. Green promotes a love of nature, and a love of family, friends, pets and the home. It is the color of the garden lover, the home lover and the good host”.

For me this is the perfect reflection not only of this month, but of the Autumn in general. The time when friends starts to get together again inside rather than on the beach or in open spaces, making us value even more the importance of our closest.

Black n White

Warm or cold, summer or winter, 8 or 80, happy and sad….opposite.

Life is full of contrasts, of opposites that attract each other. Who does not have a friend, a boyfriend or a sister from another mother that is so different from us, but so close at the same time? Those friends that just by looking in the eyes know what we are thinking.  Even for an insecure by nature like me (even if sometimes I look so secure of myself) the contrasts are either like it or hate it. Never been so easy to make a decision )

And this season black and white are back in the runways, the angel and the rebel, the pure and the rock n’ roll. Which one you prefer? Always symbol of elegance, simplicity and able to add that extra touch of professionalism to an outfit. Great simple combination for example is a black pair of skinny jeans and a white shirt. This year the trend does not stop there, we will see them in new geometrical, abstract patterns and in lines

Cooking Experiment

Autumn as I previously mentioned, is pumpkins month, so even if I’ve never tried to use it for cooking before, I headed to the local  market to buy a small one.

I was determined to prepare pumpkin gnocchi as I eat every year during this period when I go back home . In Italy you can easily find them also in the counter of the supermarket, but here I’ve never found them..so let’s give it a try.

What you need:

350 gr of pumpkin

350gr of potato

180 gr of flour

1 egg

salt and pepper

First of all I opened and clean the pumpkin removing the seeds, then I cut it into pieces and put in in the over a 180°for about 25 minutes, the time for the pumpkin to soften. In the meanwhile I boiled in salted water about 350gr of potato with skin. Once both the pumpkin and the potato are cooked and lukewarm, remove the skin and pass them in the masher.  Now start adding the other ingredients, the flour, the egg, a bit of cinnamon, a bit of nutmeg, salt and pepper as desired until you obtained a homogeneous mixture. It is now time to start making the gnocchi! First of all form several “sticks” and then start cutting them into same-size pieces.

Put water to boil and cook one portion of gnocchi at time until they float (about a minute). Serve with a homemade tomato sauce or a simple sage and butter sauce, topped with some parmesan cheese.
