Baby leggings

Simple, quick, comfy, easy to wear..key words when we are talking about baby – newborn cloths. And what is faster and easier to wear than leggings? Basically nothing!

Before having a baby, when I was thinking about baby wear, I always imagine fancy cloths, adult-like clothing, jeans, shirts, dresses, but after having my kid, I realize I could not spend much time all the time to change him, especially when he is desperately crying and it is exactly like this that I discover the power of leggings, both for boys and girls. Nowadays you can find many options on the market, but I really like trendy handmade pattern made by Sweetest Thing, a shop I found through Etsy.

I ordered two similar pattern to start in different sizes, I am still using the smallest one for now, but I really love it and they fit perfectly. Baby looks super trendy on this and everyone adores the look!

Focaccia experience

Weekend, beautiful day, lunch with friends, enjoying the September sun sitting around a table outside, talking about life, future, plans and catching up on small talks with friends, a perfect atmosphere to end the month and make us feel a bit closer to home, the “original” one , the one where we grew up and we miss when living abroad. That feeling that you know each other since kindergarden, the talking just looking at each other eyes, those feeling that getting older in a different country is not so easy to find anymore…

It is in times like this, with all the positive energies around, that I appreciate the real meaning of slow food. And to celebrate all this I prepared a focaccia, a simple rosemary focaccia. The Italian way.

What you need:

400 g white bread flour type 00

100 g fine ground semolina flour or extra white bread flour

sea salt

1 sachet dried yeast (even better if you can find a couple of grams of the fresh yeast

½ tablespoon sugar

300 ml water, lukewarm

extra virgin olive oil

rosemary

How to proceed:

Place the flours and ½ tablespoon of sea salt into a large bowl, and make a well in the middle. Add the yeast and sugar to the lukewarm water, and mix with a fork. Leave this for a few minutes and start to add the other ingredients, working the dough with your hands.  Make a ball, cover it with a dish towel and leave it in a warm place for about an hour to let it rise. What  would suggest, it is to turn on the oven at 50°, when it reaches temperature, switch it off, place the bowl with the dough in the oven and leave it there.

Once the dough has risen, place it on a baking tray with extra virgin olive oil and spread it out to cover the tray. Push down roughly on top of the dough. Sprinkle with rosemary leaves and bake it for about 20 minutes at 180° or until golden on top.

As an alternative to the rosemary and according to your taste, you can add cherry tomato or basil as a topping.

Unfortunately when I was preparing it I was bad enough not to take pictures, so I am adding a couple saved from the net.

Hope you enjoy!

Magic happens

While having a late lunch with my husband and our baby in a quite week afternoon, the bell rang and looking out of the window, we had an uplifting surprise! A homeless guy who used to live in our street until a year ago found his “angel”, the love of his life who accepted him in the way he was and took him under her arm.. now a year later he is living a beautiful life with his wife in Norway and just came to Ams for a short break and to see again everyone he knew in the neighboorhood. We are totally amazed on how he changed, how he is looking smart, fit and he knows he was lucky to have found a woman who had the patience to help him change, with all the ups and downs that this could mean..a second chance really can make the difference. A real makeover!

It make me realize that magic and “princess stories” still happen, that beautiful souls still exist, filling our days with love and joy..

To finish off the day in the perfect way we even got a new big fridge for free! We can finally stock in grocery and freeze the delicious food mummy brings me from back home without being worry not to have enough space!

Hope you all had a great day as well

Family Shopping

Welcome back!

Who does the shopping in your family? If you are like me, it is arrived the moment to do a bit of fall shopping for the family, aka my husband. Since we were boyfriend and girlfriend I kind of dress him as he is not a fan of shopping. The best he can do is buying something online, but he really does not have the patience to go in and out shops to find what he likes/ needs.  So, for a long while now I buy cloths and shoes. for him. I just get direction of what he wants and I choose, as I learn to pick the things he likes … He is not a big fashionista or trends follower, so better focus in key pieces, casual wear, basics and neutral colors. I find men shopping easier, in fact when I enter a store I can always find a menswear I like, but it is much more difficult to find something for me!! Does it happen the same to you or am I the only one who shopping for the partner?

Pijama party

Yuppie, almost weekend! Ready to enjoy one of the last  warm weekend before autumn kicks in? I certainly do!

As you probably imagine the night routine with a baby changes a lot and, as much as i love sexy lingeries and laces, there is nothing sexy about walking up in the middle of the night to breastfeed after only a few hours of rest, so my advise is keep it simple! The best clothing option is to wear pijiamas which are nice and confy, great to leave the bedroom in the middle of the night and still staying warm, especially now that the fall is approaching.

New fall collection are coming out..take a sneak peak of the simple yet beautiful collection from Oysho!

Happy Sunday!!!

After a full night partying with my baby boy ( read NO sleep), this morning I woke up incredibly early and I stared looking outside the window trying to find a ray of sun behind those clouds and I asked myself, if September had to be a color, what would it be? Far from the fashion trends of the season, thinking of our surroundings and of what Mother Nature is offering us , what color would you pick?

September has to be Beige, the beginning of the fall, transition month, the first yellowish leaves on the trees and the green one slowly falling down.. Now if we would have to convert this color into fashion, we can definitely translate it into CAMEL. I’ve always like this color in this season, but this year more than ever is a big return. So here some little shopping ideas with this tone..

Another accessory

This season we will see many colorful playful bags in the street, different shapes, clutches and small across-body bags and I really look forward to have one myself, but now I am going a bit against autumn fashion trend here while I am thinking functional, big everyday put-everything-you- need.-inside kind of bag, a Mary Poppins one..

It has to be black. Always elegant and neutral, which could be used for a simple run to the grocery store as well as for a happy hour. And searching the web while I am writing this post, I could not resist and I just ordered mine, classic model and budget friendly.

Breakfast boost

Good Evening my dears!

Today I woke up asking myself what to do with those ripe banana sitting on the fruit bowl as I do not really like really sweet ripe fruits, but I rather prefer the crunchy, raw ones.  I found this really simple quick recipe, ideal for a quick boost of energy before leaving the house..

What do you need?

2 ripe bananas

1 peach

1/5 cup greek yogurt

1/5 cup milk

a teaspoon of honey (or more if you want it sweeter)

Just blend all the ingredients, sit down and enjoy your drink ))

Restarting from September

New month has began! September, month that signs the end of the summer, the beginning of school, the return to the office after holidays and the beginning of fall and shopping for the new season!

Summer went by soooo fast for me because of the pregnancy and fall is slowly kicking in, but I decided to wait a little bit more before starting the proper autumn clothing shopping as I hope to return back in shape soon, but still I cannot hold myself to search and look around for the new trends… so I decided it is time for a little treat, SHOES time! As much as I love fashion, for some reason I have never been a big fan of shoes and shoes shopping, but I definitely need a new pair for this first cloudy days! Luckily for me this is the year of flats, plateau and wedges, great to walk around even for a stroll in the city with the buggy!

My everyday pick for now is:
